Nikon Z7

The weather today was pleasant without any threat of rain, when, thunderstorms are possible tornadoes. I took out my gift of the Nikon Z7 with the 24-70 mm F/4 lens to try it out. First thing I am going to say is that there are a lot of features in this camera that I do not know how to use it is yet. I have been slowly reading the guidebook that came with the camera and lens. What I wanted to see is how the new vibration reduction would work, since I have been getting somewhat shakier. The ergonomics of the camera to me was a great fit in my hand perfectly and the button layout although was slightly different it’s close enough to my other Nikon cameras that I have had no difficulty in using the buttons. With my Nikon D500 even though it has two slots almost all the time all I use is the XQD slot so having only one slot in the Z7 did not bother me.

I decided only to do scenic landscapes to try to capture some of the local fall colors, so I did not bring any other lens or the adapter with me. Looking at my shooting data all the shots but one was that F/8 and even with auto I so it was set at 100 with shutter speeds ranging from 50-125 seconds. The image that shows the starburst was at F/22 1/50 of a second.

My impression of the color captured only me needed slight tweaking. And I did not see any blurring in the images. The next thing to try out with the camera is using the adapter and the Nikon 200-500 mm lens on wildlife. So stay tuned.
