Aggression!

The approach of the aggressive Sanderling

A few years ago, toward the end of July, I was photographing at Gooseberry, part of Horseneck Beach State Reservation, and shot the sequence of a fight between 2 – Calidris alba. The Sanderling still in some will plumage was the aggressor. Usually the Sanderling’s run along the shore in groups. I usually find that the Semi-palmated Sandpipers and Dunlins are more aggressive to each other especially over food.
