Green Versus Purple

When you are out photographing common species, you observe behavior or other events that show differences in a particular species. The other day, filming mallards at times there were striking differences in the coloration of the Drakes’ head. Field guides describe the heads color as iridescent green. Depending on the light the color of the head can be an iridescent purple. Either one of these colors depending on the light can show up in either as purple or green.
